SRINAGAR: The authorities Friday fined two traders at the Srinagar International Airport for overcharging.
Action was taken during a surprise inspection of the Airport market carried out by the field executives of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) under the Assistant Controller’s supervision, a press statement issued here said.
“The MRP printed on one of the products was Rs 10 and the same was being sold for Rs 20. The erring trader was penalized on spot with Rs 6, 000,” it said.
“Some traders were selling packed commodities, which were found without the mandatory declarations. The traders operating in the Airport premises were directed to adhere to Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011,” it added. The department, according to the statement, booked owners of two petrol pumps, one at 90-feet road Soura and the other at Kralpora, “for indulging in short-deliveries.”
“A fine of Rs 15,000 was slapped on the management of these petrol pumps,” it said.
