Srinagar: A flood victim from Batamaloo area of this summer capital city has accused the authorities of depriving him of compensation.
Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of late Mohammad Abdullah Bhat said that his house in Dairwani Mohalla, Batamaloo, was damaged during the devastating flood in September last year.
“I am still waiting for the interim relief of Rs 75,000 announced by the government for people whose houses were completely damaged due to the floods,” he told Kashmir Reader.
Farooq said he has already filed an application at DC office Srinagar and other concerned authorities regarding the compensation but to no avail.
He said that other flood victims from the area have already received the interim relief. DC Srinagar Farooq Shah said that Bhat’s was not an isolated case.
“Yes, there are thousands of flood victims in Srinagar city and other affected areas awaiting compensation. We are trying our level best to reach out to them,” he said.
Shah assured that Bhat will be provided compensation within two days.
