New Year begins on suicide note in Pulwama

PULWAMA: 2015 started on a suicide note in this southern district Thursday as three persons, including a teenage girl, ended their lives while another girl is battling for life.
A Class 10 student (name withheld) hanged herself at her home in Malwari Nilaw village. She was removed to district hospital Pulwama where she was declared brought dead. Her body was handed over to her family after the post mortem, police said.
In another incident, a 30-year-old man consumed some poisonous substance at his home in Ratnipora village. He was shifted to a local hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar. He, however, died on way to the hospital, the police said.
In the third incident, a 65-year-old man consumed some poisonous substance at his home in Banura village. He was shifted to district hospital Pulwama where from doctors referred him to Srinagar, where he died.
Police said a teenage girl made an attempt to end her life by consuming some poisonous substance at her home in Narwa village. She was immediately shifted to the district hospital where doctors succeeded in saving her life.
A police official told Kashmir Reader they have initiated investigations into the incidents.
The reason for suicides was not immediately known, he said.
