Sarpanch shot dead

Srinagar: Suspected militants Sunday shot dead a Sarpanch in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said.
Mohammad Sultan Bhat, 38, was gunned down outside his house at Nazneenpora village, Deputy Inspector General of Police (south) Alok Kumar told Kashmir Reader.
Bhat reportedly belonged to the ruling National Conference.
No militant outfit immediately claimed responsibility for the killing.
Recently, brother of a Sarpanch was shot dead in Awantipora of Tral constituency in Pulwama.
Shopian is going to polls in the fourth phase of the five-phased elections on December 14.
