Pampore: Police on Sunday said it recovered a cash of Rs 14 lakh from a taxicab in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and arrested three persons.
A team under the leadership of SHO Shopian, Javid Ahmad, recovered the cash from a Tavera (No. JK0IG-6922) from three persons travelling in the vehicle, a police official said.
He identified the arrested trio as Sheikh Masrat, of Poshnoo, Awantipora; Bilal Dar, of Panzgam, Pulwama; and Zahoor Fafoo, of Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar.
“We were doing a routine checking of the Tavera when we found a bag full of currency notes; the sum is Rs 14 lakh” the police official said.
Superintendent of police Shopian, S A Waheed, while confirming the recovery of cash told Kashmir Reader that they are investigating the matter.
