Doda faces water shortage

DODA: Residents of Dhara in Jammu’s Doda district are facing shortage of drinking water.
The residents Sunday said the area has been without drinking water for the past five days while the authorities are ignoring their pleas.
“Several times, we approached the Public Health Engineering department, but so far they have done nothing,” they said.
They accused the PHE department of “creating the crisis” by providing connection to “some people” from the local water supply scheme.
“The water shortage is so acute that we cannot even offer Friday prayers in the mosque,” they said.
“We met the Executive Engineer of PHE, Abdul Wahid Zargar. He assured to consider the matter on priority,” they added.
Meanwhile, parts of Kishtwar district have been facing the similar problem for the past about four months.
“The officials of the PHE are not taking any steps to overcome the problem. They only make tall claims,” the residents said.
