Police arrests JKLF leader, activist in Kulgam

SRINAGAR: The police arrested JKLF’s Secretary from Kulgam district in south Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Sheikh along with an activist Abdul Rehman Kumhar, the party said Saturday.
“The police arrested them during raids at their residences the last night,” JKLF said in a press statement issued here.
The police, it said, also raided the residence of the party’s Vice President from Kulgam Asad Ullah Sheikh and “threatened his old father”.
The party’s Vice Chairman Mushtaq Ajmal condemned the police action.
“These oppressive measures are the unilateral violence that will yield no good results,” he said in the statement.
The police has arrested most of JKLF’s leaders and activists including its Chairman Yasin Malik and senior leader Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi.
“The arrests were made to make the ‘so called elections’ successful. But these measures actually prove that these elections are just a military operation,” Ajmal said.
Meanwhile, a JKLF delegation visited several areas in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, including Chowdry Bagh, Safden, and Dooru, to make people “understand the ill consequences of ‘so called elections’”, the statement said.
