BARMULLA: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and member parliament Muzzafar Hussain Beigh Wednesday said the pro-freedom camp should recant its boycott call for assembly elections considering the record turnout in the first phase of the polls.
“Had they been well-wishers of people, the Hurriyat leaders would have never called for the boycott of assembly elections. But now that people have voted in high numbers in the first phase, it is time for them to take back this call,” Beigh told reporters after addressing people in Sheeri village of this north Kashmir district.
He appealed people to vote for PDP candidate Javid Hasan Beigh.
Later in the rally, National Conference’s Nazir Hussain Khan, Pir Jalal u Din, and Gulam Hasan Rather of Congress, besides several other political workers, joined PDP.
The rally ended with the leaders’ visit to several villages.
