NC’s Ratanpuri injured in stone attack at Pulwama

ANANTNAG: Senior National Conference leader Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri was Wednesday injured after being attacked with stones in Pulwama district.
Ratanpuri, who is contesting Assembly elections from Pulwama, was attacked while organizing a road show in the constituency.
In Renzpora, as soon he got down from his vehicle to address his supporters, a group of youth appeared near the venue and attacked his cavalcade with stones, reports said.
Ratanpuri received minor injuries in his ankle. He was rushed to Srinagar’s bone and joint hospital for treatment where from he was discharged after the first aid.
A police official, wishing anonymity, said that it was a small incident. Ratanpuri, however, blamed the opposition People’s Democratic Party for the attack.
“A group of six people came and stopped us. They even hurled choicest abuses on us and told me in clear cut terms that they will not allow us to move ahead. Though my security guards, and workers who were more than two hundred in number, could have captured all of them I did not allow them to do so,” Ratanpuri told Kashmir Reader.
He said that when they started moving back to avoid any trouble in the area, the youth pelted stones at them. “In the attack a stone hit my ankle. Doctors later plastered it and suggested me to take rest,” he said.
Ratanpuri said that on being inquired “all the six people were found to be the workers of local PDP leader and candidate from the constituency.”
“Out of frustration the local PDP leaders are trying to create hurdles in my campaigning,” Ratanpuri added.
