Announcing victory after our arrest is ‘big joke’: HCJK

SRINAGAR: Criticising the New Delhi-based me¬dia’s “drum beating about the voter turnout in first phase of Assembly elec¬tions in the state”, the Hurriyat Con¬ference Jammu and Kashmir (HCJK) Wednesday said “announcing victory after arresting the resistance leader¬ship is a big joke”.
“These few elements (who voted) have no moral or legal bases. Nowhere in the world is coercion used to conduct elections,” HCJK’s spokesperson said in a press statement issued here.
He said the pro-election parties shall hold plebiscite and contest the pro-free¬dom leadership politically “the same way these people celebrate their elec¬tions victories and make propaganda through media”.
“There is also no justification to keeping pro-freedom leaders and youth behind bars. The reality is that ‘so-called government’ has acknowledged its defeat before the resistance leaders,” he added.
