Arrests ahead of polls reflect ‘Govt’s frustration’: Hurriyat (M)

SRINAGAR: The Hurriyat Conference (M) Monday said the arrest of youths and pro-freedom leaders ahead of the elections reflects “the government’s frustration”.
“The arrest of youths in Ganderbal and Bandipora, and the detention of hurriyat workers, activists and their parents under the garb of so-called elections prove the government’s frustration,” hurriyat spokesman said in a press statement issued here.
Meanwhile, a delegation comprising of the leaders including Javaid Ahmad Mir, Hakim Abdul Rashid, and Bashir Ahmad Andrabi visited Frisal Kulgam and Pulwama to pay tributes to the three militants killed in the recent encounter, the statement said.
“The conglomerate will protect the priceless sacrifices offered by the nation. It will continue to fight for the right to self determination,” it said quoting the leaders.
Syed Bashir Andrabi was arrested on way to Frisal and lodged in Pulwama Jail, the statement said.
“We strongly condemn the arrest,” it added.
