Bank accounts opened in Budgam under PMJDY

SRINAGAR: The banks operating in the central Kashmir’s Budgam district have opened 12,716 accounts between August 15 and November 18 this year under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the government said Thursday.
The figure was revealed in the District-Level Implementation Committee meeting organised by the Lead Bank Office Budgam under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner Mohammad Hussain Mir, an official handout issued here said.
“The banks operating in the district have opened 12,716 accounts with effect from August 15 to November 18 2014 under PMJDY. Besides, the banks have organised 164 camps during the period to make the people aware about the benefits of the scheme and to bring them within the ambit of banking facilities,” it said.
