SRINAGAR: The Power Development Department Tuesday said that a new curtailment programme for both the metered and non-metered areas will be issued within a fortnight.
A local news gathering agency quoting PDD Chief Engineer Bashir Ahmad Khan said the demand for increase in the power supply for Kashmir Valley is rising by the day.
“If the load increases then we have no option but to issue new schedule of power cuts. At present load is increasing every day,” Khan said.
He said last year’s curtailment schedule has already been implemented in both metered and non-metered areas. “The hooking and load shedding is the greater cause of concern for all of us. People must understand that by power thefts they are also causing loss to themselves,” Khan said.
He said that within three months around one-lakh power meters are arriving in the Valley so that non-metered areas are covered. “This will also decrease the load and will pave way for the uninterrupted power supplies to people,” he added.
