ANANTNAG: In its rush to grab people who will fight the upcoming Assembly elections in Kashmir, two political parties have given mandate to the same person for same constituency in Dooru, Anantnag.
Three days after Peoples Conference announced Advocate Sohail Ahmad Malik as its candidature for the Dooru Assembly segment, the BJP on Sunday also announced the same candidate for the same constituency.
“Since many parties had offered me the mandate from the same constituency it created confusion. After deliberations and serious thought I decided to contest on PC ticket as the party has more acceptability than the BJP here,” Malik told Kashmir Reader.
He, however, thanked BJP for naming him from the same constituency.
“I am thankful to BJP leadership that they reposed trust in me and felt that I am the right person for Dooru,” he said.
BJP spokesman, Khalid Jahangir, said that it was simply an error. “Malik’s name figuring in the list of candidates was a mistake as a result of communication gap. I have conveyed the same to top leadership and the error will be rectified soon.”
