Srinagar: A letter in which a school headmaster from Reasi district is purportedly asking his superiors to “sanction” two choppers for the school went viral on social networking sites on Saturday, prompting education authorities to order a probe.
The purported letter (Ref No HSS-198) issued from the office of the Headmaster Government High School, Sersundwan, to the Chief Education Officer of Reasi, went viral on Facebook and Twitter.
“This school is at very remote area. There is lack of transport and communication because of this staff of this school is not able to reach in time (sic),” reads the purported letter.
“So, it is requested to your candid self to sanction two helicopters (one for headmaster and one for staff),” it adds.
Hundreds of users have shared this letter and made fun of the headmaster in their comments or by simply posting smileys.
“Salute the audacity of ‘Headmaster’,” wrote a senior police officer on his wall, which has got 605 likes and has been shared by 155 other users.
“He shd hv demanded one extra chopper for air escort,” a user, Ahtsham H Bhat, writes.
Another user Madan Manhas comments “Education is our fundamental right, so it can be provided at any cost. I appreciate the courage of this headmaster!!!!”
Ashok Kumar Saniyal, chief education officer Reasi, said the letter circulated on the social networking sites was fake and uploaded by some mischievous person. He said his office has received no such letter.
“We have ordered a probe to look into this prank. I have also told my headmaster to file a case with the police,” he added.
