Srinagar: The J&K High Court Friday sought the government’s response to a petition seeking quashing of Prof N K Resutra’s appointment as chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
Hearing the petition filed by Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chat—the incumbent ‘Nodal’ Principal Amar Singh College here— Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey directed government to keep records pertaining to the case available on the next hearing on Tuesday.
In his petition filed through Advocate M A Makdoomi, Chat has claimed that he is the senior most principal of the state and deserves to be appointed as the head of J&KBOSE.
Chat said he submitted his bio-data for the post of JKBOSE head as well as Secretary in response to an advertisement issued by the department of school education last year.
Subsequently, Chat said, he along with other eligible applicants were called for an interaction with the search committee constituted by the government on October 15 last year and the interview was scheduled to be held at Jammu on September 3 this year. However, he said, it was postponed due to unknown reasons.
“The interaction was once again scheduled to be held at Jammu on (October 20 last) as conveyed through office communication Edu/BOSE/21/2013 dated October 10”.
Based on his profile, performance and suitability, Chat said that he was placed at Serial No. 1 in the panel for the Chairman’s post.
However, he said, the School Education department on October 22 appointed Resutra as the Chairman.
“While department succeeded in seeking approval of the Chief Minister in violation of the recommendations of the search committee, the SRO 452 (issued on October 22) issued by it in a dubious way appointed him as Chairman.”
