Srinagar: Just a few days after NC leader Nasir Aslam Wani’s son stirred controversy by posing with a gun in the Valley, PDP MLA Javed Mustafa Mir has been spotted brandishing AK-47 openly.
An image has surfaced online which shows People’s Democratic Party’s MLA Javed Mir holding AK-47 and casually standing next to an armed personnel.
The image which shows a khaki-clad Mir wearing a bullet proof vest has caused outrage on social networking sites like Facebook.
Mudasir Raina, a Facebook user while commenting on pictures, said : “Doing nothing for his constituency. Wearing army jackets does not make a person honest. He (MLA Sahab) should do what he is meant for”.
Another Facebook user, Dar Nissar quipped: “The Don MLA”.
The PDP leader however defended himself by saying that he was under threat and carried weapons only for his protection.
“It is only for self-defense and nothing else,” he was quoted as saying by a local news agency CNS.
Earlier, NC leader Surinder Singh, while defending Wani’s son for posing with an AK-47, had said that the pictures were blown out of proportion as he was just posing with a gun and not with any intention to harm anyone.
