NC, JKCHR slam Bukhari’s threat to KR Editor

SRINAGAR: Ruling National Conference Mon¬day strongly condemned the intimi¬dation and harassment of Kashmir Reader editor by by former SOG of¬ficer Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari
“Meh¬booba Mufti and Mufti Sayeed should apol¬ogize to the entire media fraternity for this un¬acceptable behavior rather than exerting pressure and influ¬ence through its cronies to save Bukhari from legal action,” NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said in a statement.
“Ashiq Bukhari should be immediately arrested for his hooliganism and intimidation of senior journalists on behalf of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. An example should be made of out those of his ilk who use intimida¬tion as a political tool especially around elections in the State”, the NC spokesman said.
Meanwhile, JKCHR also strong¬ly condemned Bukhari’s threat to the Kashmir Reader editor .
In a statement secretary gen¬eral JKCHR Dr Syed Nazir Gilani expressed anguish over the threat to Editor KR Showkat A. Motta. “I express my anguish against threats issued by former Special Opera¬tions Group officer Ashiq Bukhari,” Gilani said.
He said such threats would not deter press to do its duty in a profes¬sional and honest manner.
