Srinagar: The J&K High Court has issued notice to 59 schools asking them explain reasons for charging tuition fee and bus fare for the months of September and October when Kashmir was hit by unprecedented floods and all educational institutions remained shut.
The registry of the court has served notices to the schools, asking them to appear before the division bench on November 18.
On last date of hearing, the bench had asked amicus curie advocate G A Lone to furnish list of schools “so that notice is served upon them by the (court) registry.”
In wake of the recent unprecedented floods, the High Court has already asked Delhi Public School not to charge tuition fee as well as bus fare from students for September and October. A few other schools including Malllison (Sheikh Bagh), Tyndale Biscoe, Burn Hall, New Era and Presentation Convent have already made a statement before the court that they will not charge the tuition fee and the bus fare for the two months.
In case any amount for September and October has been received in advance or otherwise, they said, same shall be adjusted in future months.
