Baramulla: 2 injured in police action

Baramulla: Two persons including a girl were injured Thursday when police fired pellets on the protesting crowd in old town Baramulla when they were protesting the arrest of local youths.
Irshad Ahmad Wasil son of Ghulam Nabi Wasil and a Snober Amin of Qazihama both resident of old town received multiple pellets when a police party tried to arrest some youths on the charges of stone pelting.
Sources said, “As the police party tried to arrest the youths people resisted the move and pelted stones on them. Police fired dozens of pellets on protesters resulting in the injury of at least two people.”
Irshad was later shifted to district hospital Baramulla for treatment.
Medical Superintendent of DHB, Dr Bashir Ahmad said, “Irshad had received multiple injuries in his left leg that is why doctors shifted him to Srinagar hospital.”
Ahead of elections police have started crack down on and in the past week at least seven youths from Baramulla and ten from Sopore area have been arrested.
