Sopore: Sarpanch arrested for circulating threatening posters

Sopore: The police have arrested a Sarpanch for allegedly circulating threatening posters on behalf of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit in Sopore town of Baramulla district, reports said Friday.
Sarpanch, Tanvir Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan, of Dooru, Sopore, was arrested during a raid on his house by the police’s Special Operations Group.
“Police (also) raided his computer shop and seized various computers, printers and other gadgets,” the CNS news agency quoted a police officer as saying.
Posters had surfaced at several places in Sopore town before Eid-ul-Azha, naming over 30 persons and threatening them for the alleged links with the police and pro-India parties.
Soon after surfacing of these posters, police questioned the owners of various Photostat shops, the CNS said, adding that the Sarpanch during questioning has confessed of preparing and pasting the threatening posters at various places in the town.
