Body of slain Kashmiri youth brought home

Baramulla: The body of 19 year-old Altaf Ahmad Sheikh, who was murdered on Wednesday by two unknown assailants in Gorakpore district of Uttar Pradesh when he along with other drivers were returning to Kashmir, was today flown to Srinagar airport.
A large number of people had assembled in his hometown to pay last homage to the slain youth. To quell protests large number of police force were deployed in Sheeri and other areas. At 6 pm the body of slain youth reached his hometown. Hundreds of people participated in his funeral prayers.
A resident of Pehliharn Sheeri Baramulla, Altaf along with his brother Wasim, 22, had gone to UP with an apple truck JK05/8455. They were returning to Valley on Wednesday when two unidentified gunmen riding on a motorcycle fired on Altaf at 5:30 pm in Gorakhpur district of UP.
His brother along with another drivers had gone to the nearby market when the firing incident happened, family members of the slain youth said. They said other drivers present on the occasion shifted Altaf to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
