Kashmiri youth shot dead in UP

Baramulla: Unidentified men shot and killed a Kashmiri youth in Uttar Pradesh, when he along with other people was returning to the Valley.
Altaf Ahmad Sheikh, 19, along with his brother Wasim, 22, of Pehliharn, Sheeri in Baramulla had gone to UP with an apple truck (No. JK05/8455). They were returning to the Valley on Wednesday when two unidentified gunmen riding on a motorcycle fired on Altaf at 5:30 pm in Gorakhpur district of UP.
His brother along with another driver had gone to the nearby market when the firing incident happened, family members of the slain youth said. They said other drivers present on the occasion shifted Altaf to the nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A local news gathering agency GNS while quoting Station House Office Beli Par, Yadvindra Pal said they have registered an FIR 410/2014 under Section 302 IPC.
The Superintendent Police Gorakhpur, Sheshnath Yadav said, “We have established check points and passed on the message about the incident and hopefully accused will be held soon.”
Kashmir police said that they have contacted their counterparts in UP and the body of the slain youth will be brought to his native village on Friday.
Meanwhile, when the news about the youth’s murder reached to his native village hundreds of people including women staged protests.
Village Sarpanch Manzoor Ahmad Bhat said, “We met the Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Zubair Ahmad Khan who assured us that police will give us full support. Police has also arranged some air tickets for his family members who will bring the body back from Delhi airport to Kashmir.”
The SSP said, “Senior UP police officers are investigating the incident and we are in touch with them. We hope they will arrest the killers very soon.”
