Tangmarg villages complain of timber shortage

Baramulla: Residents of Tangmarg Wednesday complained that they are supplied less percentage of timber for construction purposes against what the government has sanctioned per household.
Villagers from Ferozpora, Qazipora, Khaipora, Chandilora, Shrai, Lalpora, Kunzer are angry against the shortage of timber for construction of their houses and other buildings. According to people only 30 cft timber is supplied to customers without taking care of sanctioned cft timber.
“For completing our structures we visit every official to avail the requisite timber. The supplied timber 30 cft is not sufficient to complete our houses. The Forest Division Tangmarg had to release 85000 cft timber to Pattan, Beerwah and Tangmarg range to clear the shortage. But only 14000 cft has been released so far,” they said.
Range officer Forest Division Tangmarg Ghulam Qadir said, “We are trying our best to clear the timber shortage. We have transported a good quantity of timber to various depots to clear the shortage.”
