Protest over drinking water shortage in Kadipora

ANANTNAG: Scores of women from Kadipora area of this South Kashmir townFriday staged protests against the Public Health Engineering officials for shortage of drinking water in the area.
Witnesses said that dozens of women and children took to streets of the area and blocked the busy Kadipora-Sarnal road disrupting the movement of traffic for hours. The protesting women alleged that that the area is facing the shortage of drinking water from the past several months and PHE authorities are not interested in solving their problem.
“In a month we get water supply for only 10 days. We have to cross long distances to fetch water from other localities,” said the protesting women. Later police officials rushed to the spot and assured the protesting women of taking up the issue with the district administration after which they dispersed.
