Srinagar: An audio clip has surfaced in which a senior Congress minister is using choicest invectives and abuses for National Conference and one of its senior leaders apparently in the backdrop of last week’s Cabinet meeting wherein the left out administrative units were given a nod.
In the 6-minute clip, which has gone viral on social networking sites, the Minister of State for Technical Education and Power, Viqar Rasool, is talking to some party workers on the phone and claiming credit for sub-district status of some area in Jammu.
Viqar is heard using abuses for senior NC leader and Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone for trying to sabotage the move in the meeting.
“Nationaleyun ko mirchi daloo mad*******. Inko pata bhi nahi tha yeh sub-district hoga…Kya bolne laga dal**….hum ne sub-district dilwadiya. Deputy CM (Tara Chand), Sham Lal, aur (Nawang Rigzin) Jora ne ladaye karke woh dilwa diya sub district…Akbar Lone dal** tau manta nahin tha.”
Miffed over NC workers trying to take credit for the newly created administrative unit, the person on the other end praises Viqar for helping the area. “We know Viqar sahib played a good role. You created three blocks here and gave two tehsils to Ramsoo. You helped us much more than Ghulam Nabi Azad. They (NC workers) started to fight here. Drunk Shahjahan mad****** talked non-sense. But I counseled the boys (workers). They were planning to call for a strike,” says the caller on the other end who named himself Hanief in the conversation.
During the conversation, another worker talks to the minister while requesting him to come to attend a program at Ramsoo as new workers were joining them. “They want to play politics over the issue. But we thank you and request you to spare 2-5 minutes for a program in which some 30 people are joining our party. I have promised them Viqar Sahib will come here.”
Confirming that he would attend the program, Viqar replies, “I have helped you people. Hanief knew beforehand about the sub district but I had told him not to reveal it to anyone. I will come to Dak Bungalow at 2: 30 pm and reception should be there.”
When contacted by Kashmir Reader, Viqar admitted that he has come across the audio clip. “I came to know about it,” he said, without taking further questions. He, however, did not accept or reject the authenticity of the clip.
Meanwhile, reacting over the issue, the Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone admitted that he has come across the audio clip. “It’s in the Congress blood. But I don’t get bowed down by abuses. I have abused many people. He (Viqar) is a minnow in the Congress blood,” Lone told Kashmir Reader.
The Cabinet had approved recommendation of Khurshid Ganaie-led expert committee for creation of new administrative units in the areas left our earlier.
