SRINAGAR: Teachers working with Wakf Board-run schools Saturday protested against the relief of 2 kg flour provided to them by the Wakf authorities.
Scores of Wakf teachers while criticising the authorities said that they played cruel joke with them. “A team from Wakf board visited our schools and supplied 2 kilograms of flour to every teacher. This is a cruel joke with us,” said protestors.
“We returned the flour and rejected to accept it as it hurts the sentiments of the teachers,” protestors said.
“While they should have been at the forefront to help their employees in rehabilitating them but with such an approach they are playing with victims emotions,” said they.
Raising queries about the financial workings in the board, the teachers demanded government should hold authorities of the board accountable.
When contacted Vice Chairman Wakf board Prof M Y Qadiri said that the school teachers are not flood affected victims. “Whatever they do is nonsense on their part. We gave not 2 but 5 kgs of flour as we were left with 20 bags only. Let them protest. They didn’t do a single job during floods. We are not bothered about their protest,” said he.
Asked why the Wakf had then distributed flour among the teachers, Qadiri said, “Just of sympathy.”
