Govt forms panel to monitor MGNREGA works

Srinagar: With a view to monitoring and ensuring timely preparation of convergence plans with the line departments under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGA), the government Friday formed a 11-member committee.
The panel headed by Administrative Secretary (Planning & Development Department) will also monitor proper implementation of such plans at ground level for creation of durable assets.
Besides, it will be providing work to the rural work force at their door steps. The members of the committee include Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Agriculture and Production, PHE, Irrigation and flood control, Public Works(R&B), Horticulture, Forest, School Education, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj and Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports.
“The Committee shall meet at least once in a quarter,” the government said, according to an order issued here.
