Panel to identify brave hearts for rescue work award

Srinagar: The state government Monday constituted a five-member committee to scrutinize, identify, and award persons, organizations, NGOs and various stakeholders, who have exhibited exemplary service by rescuing the people from the floods in the state.
Headed by Chief Secretary of the state, the members of the committee include Principal Secretary Planning and Development Department, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Home Department, and Secretary General Administration Department.
The Committee shall be serviced by the GAD, a government order said.
The government has already decided to award Rs one lakh each to individuals, organisations and NGOs who displayed “exemplary courage” in rescuing people marooned in the flood-ravaged areas of the state.
“The government has decided to award 100 such individuals, organisations, stakeholders and NGOs with an award of Rs one lakh each in recognition of their commendable service,” an official spokesman had said last week.
The spokesman said some individuals, groups and NGOs “displayed exemplary courage” while rescuing people in the flood-hit areas.
