100 brave hearts to get Rs 1 lakh each

SRINAGAR: The state government has decided to give an award of Rs one lakh to 100 such individuals/organisations/stakeholders/NGOs who displayed exemplary courage while rescuing people marooned in the flood-hit areas in the recent unprecedented floods.
According to an official spokesman, the missionary spirit of these saviours has “kept alive the spirit of love, brotherhood and humanity despite the fury of floods.”
The Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu have been tasked to identify and recommend the names of such individuals/organisations/ stakeholders/NGOs to the government, the spokesman said in a statement here Thursday.
He said the government has constituted a committee headed by the Chief Secretary, which shall scrutinize the recommendations received from the two Divisional Commissioners.
