Tangmarg villagers repair vital bridge on their own

Baramulla: The September 6 floods washed away with it some important bridges that connected people and places. In Tangmarg area of North Kashmir people have started to repair a vital bridge that connects several villages in the area.
According to locals, the floods washed away Sharay bridge—the main bridge on Farozpora Nala— disconnecting two dozen villages with Kunzer and Tangmarg.
People waited for many days for government action but after government agencies failed to repair the bridge or to connect people with highway, the youngsters of these villages decided to make it themselves.
According to a local youth Mudasir Ahmad, people collected money from door to door and then started to repair the bridge. Mudasir said, “The Sharay bridge which connected many villages like, Farozpora, Zandpall, Oghama, Timberhama, Sharay, etc with Kunzer area got damaged due to floods.”
He said not only men but women also contributed in this effort. “On coming Sundaywe will finish our work and everyone will be able to cross the stream,” said Mudasir.
