2 dozen Baramulla villages reel under darknes

Baramulla: The September 06 floods that engulfed major parts of the Valley has also damaged one receiving station and 12 sub stations of Power Development Department in district Baramulla rendering two dozen villages without electricity.
Official sources said that at least two-dozen villages in Baramullaare without electricity from the first week of September. “One receiving station with dozens of electricity poles was completelydamaged in Malpora area of Narvaw resulting snapping of power supply to 10 villages from September 06,” officials said. They said floodsalso damaged 6 sub stations each in Uri and Tangmarg areas.
Superintending Engineer,PDD Baramulla,Daljit Singh said,“Power has been restored in 95% area of thedistrict. In areas like Malpora, Uri and Tangmarg I hope theywill restore power supply very soon.”
Daljit said, “Therewere some minor problems in Sopore and Pattan also but we clearedit and power supply is continuing in these areas.”
He said, “For the temporary repairment thePDD Baramulla needsRupees 340 lakh, where as for the permanentrepairment of these stations we needan estimated 740 lakhrupees.”
