British woman’s murder: Cop deposes, 2 others couldn’t due to flood

Srinagar: A policeman was cross-examined Thursday in a case involving murder of British woman allegedly by a Dutchman in a houseboat here last year.
The Dutchman, Richard de Wit, was present before the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar when witness, Head Constable Javed Ahmad, was cross examined. The witness, officials said, was part of the police party which arrested the Dutchman.
They said two other witnesses were due to be cross examined but were not able to make it to the court because they were involved in a flood rescue operation in Srinagar.
24-year-old British tourist—Sara Elizabeth Rose, was killed inside the houseboat in the Dal Lake on April 6 last year.
Richard was arrested from the main town Qazigund when he was trying to escape. After filing a case (FIR No. 40/2013) at police station Ram Munshi Bagh, the police found him guilty of the crime and accordingly filed the charge sheet.
