SRINAGAR: Canditates from district Srinagar selected for teacher posts Monday held a demonstration here against the authorities for “delaying” their appointment.
They alleged that while candidates of other districts had been appointed, the government in a show of bias towards Srinagar was dilly-dallying over the appointment of aspirants from the summer capital city.
“At a time when the candidates of every district have been appointed why are the authorities reluctant to appoint canidates from Srinagar,” Nazir Ahmad, a protestor, said.
Nazir said that the selection list was published by Service Selection Board (SSB) on May 22 . However, despite the passing of three months and submittal of relevant documents, he said, “the candidates from Srinagar were yet to be appointed.”
“There is no need to delay the appointment of teachers selected by SSB. And if they did not want us appointed why did they select us,” he said.
Raising slogans against the Education Department, the candidates sought Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s intervention in the matter.
