Srinagar: JKLF Sunday organised a funeral in absentia for veteran journalist, writer, owner and editor of Nawa- I-Waqt Pakistan and The Nation, Majeed Nizami, at Lal Chowk.
Hundreds of people including Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik participated and prayed for the heavenly abode of Majeed Nizami.
Terming Nizami as an ideologue, human rights advocate and a selfless supporter of Kashmir cause Malik said, “His writings, books and speeches are a glaring example of his eternal love with Kashmir and Kashmiris.”
He said, “Nizami always represented voiceless Kashmiris through his writings and highlighted the sufferings of Kashmiris before the international community.”
Malik said, “His death is a personal loss for me as from last many years I used to meet him whenever I visited Pakistan, and found his stance vis-à-vis Kashmir unshakeable.” Malik also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Nizami.
