SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday asked people to celebrate Eid with austerity as a mark of solidarity with Palestinians under attack from Israel.
“No one should buy new clothes this time as our brothers and sisters in Gaza are facing tough times,” Mirwaiz said while addressing a gathering on the Jumat-ul-Vada (last Friday of the month of Ramadan) at the historic Jamia Masjid here.
He said, “Israel bombs mosques. Women and children have been killed even people who took shelter in UN building have been bombed. Peaceful protestors in the West Bank have been fired upon killing half a dozen innocent people and injuring hundreds.”
Lamenting the weakness of Muslim countries, Mirwaiz said, “While 70% energy and natural resources are in control of Muslims, 50% of the raw material of the world is also supplied from this block. But the Muslim world is so weak that it cannot redress its own problems.”
Blasting Muslim world and OIC for its criminal silence he said, “Israel doesn’t allow any person who comes within the age group of 50 years to enter Masjid al Aqsa and the silence of Muslim countries is shameful and regretful.”
Mirwaiz said that Israel has embarked on killing spree to break the resistance of Palestinians and from the past eight years they have faced 4 wars. “Until the Palestine state is formed again resistance against the terrorist-state of Israel should continue,” said he.
