Hurriyats slam ‘use of force’ against pro-Palestine demos

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference(M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday condemned the use of “brute force” by police and paramilitary CRPF to break up “peaceful demonstrations.”
Addressing a gathering at Kanel Masjid Mahraj Gunj, Mirwaiz termed the” killing of teenager Suhail Ahmad Lone in Kulgam and use of force to break up anti- Israel demonstrations and wanton arrest of youth from old city as a clear case of state- sponsored terrorism.”
No regime around the world had used force to kill protesters demonstrating against the naked aggression of Israelis against Palestinine, the Mirwaiz said.
Mirwaiz alleged that police and other government forces were “misusing their powers and the government wants to create another 2010- like situation when more than 120 youth were martyred.”
“Target killing of youth, blasting of houses, use of force against peaceful protesters, wanton arrests, and imposition of curfews are some of the Israeli tactics being used by Indian forces in Kashmir,” he said.
Meanwhile senior leaders of the amalgam including Javaid Ahmad Mir, Abdul Mannan Bukhari and Hakim Abdul Rashid today visited the SMHS Hospital Srinagar to enquire about the health of youth who were injured during “peaceful protests against the killing Lone.”
“The leaders also visited the Ahsan –ul- Haq Wani a 14 yers old boy who was hit by CRPF bullets in Islamabad South Kashmir,” according to a statement.
The Syed Ali Shah Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference also expressed “deep grief and shock over the killing of more than 100 Gazans on Sunday by Israel.”
“The international community has failed to end the massacre of innocent people of Palestine, proving that the world is governed by ‘Jungle Raj,’’’ the amalgam said in a statement.
While reiterating its appeal for observing the last Friday of of Ramadan (Jummat-ul-Vidah) as “Youm-ul-Qudus”, the amalagam slammed the government for “not allowing people even to express their sympathy with their Palestinian brethren.”
