HMT accident: Army driver applies for bail

Srinagar: A local court here on Saturday allowed prosecution to file objections next week to an application for bail of army driver, who was involved in the deadly accident that left seven people, including a pregnant woman, dead on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday.
The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar was hearing a bail application for bail to the driver, Havaldar Krishan Singh of 51 Rashtriya Rifles.
Seven persons were killed and two others critically injured Wednesday after an army’s recovery truck rammed into a taxicab near Hokersar wetland on the outskirts of Srinagar. The accident triggered massive anti-India demonstrations in the area. Forces had to burst teargas canisters and warning shots to clear Srinagar-Muzaffarabad from protesters, who had blocked it.
