SPO thrashed, his scooter torched

Srinagar: A policeman was injured Friday after he was thrashed by a group of youth at Nowhatta in Old City.
Reports said a group of protesters intercepted a scooterist, and during checking they found an identity card of police department in his wallet.
The youth pounced upon him and beat him up ruthlessly, said a local news agency GNS, adding that the youth later torched the scooter.
A police official, according to the news agency, confirmed the incident and identified the injured cop as Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Amin Sheikh.
“Amin was not on duty and was in civvies when the incident took place,” the official said, adding that he is posted in Lal Bazaar area.
“A case has been registered in this regard,” he said.
