Army driver sent to 10-days police remand

Srinagar: A local court Thursday remanded the army driver, who was involved in the deadly accident that left seven people, including a pregnant woman dead on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday, to 10 days police remand.
The court of First Additional Munsiff, Srinagar remanded Havaldar Krishan Singh of 51 Rashtriya Rifles to 10 days police remand. He was produced before the court by the cops from Police Station Parimpora with an application seeking his remand.
Seven persons were killed and two others critically injured Wednesday after an army’s recovery truck rammed into a taxicab near Hokersar wetland on the outskirts of Srinagar. The accident triggered massive anti-India demonstrations in the area. Forces had to burst teargas canisters and warning shots to clear Srinagar-Muzaffarabad from protesters, who had blocked it.
