Sarpanch Association calls for employing local youth in GVK Rattle HEP

DRABSHALLAH: A day after work on the 850 MW GVK Rattle Hydro-electric Project was stopped by M/s GVK energy Limited and L&T the local village heads have asked for a secure environment to carry forward the work, asking the company to engage local youth in the project.
Condemned the harassment of company officers and some government officials by union leaders, the President Sarpanch Association Drabshallah block Mohammad Iqbal Keen in a statement said that there should be aproper police action against such incidents.
The association urged upon the administration and police to deal with such culprits with iron hands who are creating unnecessary hurdles in smooth functioning of Ratle Hydro Electric Project at Drabshalla.
Last week GVK company officials had closed the work at the site saying that an ‘insecure atmosphere’ prevailed at the site due undue interferences in the ongoing work every.
The assocation also stressed upon the company managements to give preference to local un-employment youth of Drabshalla block at first instance including those families whose land were acquired for this hydro electrical power project.
“After adjustment of unemployed youths from Drabshalla, the company should give preference to unemployed youths of Kishtwar District and adjoining areas as the same was agreed in principle by the management while signing the MoU with government of Jammu and Kashmir”, the statement said.
