ATOAK concerned over liberal registration of adventure tour operators

SRINAGAR: Adventure Tourism players Sunday appealed the Tourism authorities to stop the mushroom growth of inexperienced adventure tour operators calling for stopping of registration.
A memorandum of demands submitted by Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK) to Chairman, Tourism Advisory Committee said that registered adventure tourism players may be extended full support and cooperation to promote and develop adventure in its full form.
The memorandum also said the pleasure, religious tour operators and excursion agents may not be permitted to indulge for operating the soft or extreme adventure tourism products as they have little knowledge of adventure sports. “Incentives may be sanctioned in favour of the registered adventure tour operators to raise infrastructure,” it said.
It also said it is highly appreciable that the Government is making its every effort to revive tourism in J&K state during the past few years.
The memorandum also appealed the authorities that the adventure tourism needs proper expert guidance and patronage. In order to overcome situation it is submitted that the following suggestion may kindly be considered so that this neglected segment will also grow along with other sectors of tourism in our state.
“The Adventure Tourism being purely a technical in nature needs expert governance by a trained and knowledgeable officer,” it said.
