Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday said that his party wants ‘freedom’ for all the five regions of Jammu and Kashmir and no region can be forciblly made part of the “resistance movement.”
Mirwaiz said that the regions of Jammu and Kashmir include Kashmir, Jammu, Ladakh, ‘Azad Kashmir’ and Gilgit-Baltistan and his party is looking forward to invite the representatives of all these regions to discuss on the ‘freedom’ movement of the state.
“We want the freedom of all the five regions of the state and if people of any region do not want to be part of freedom movement we can’t carry them with us forcibly,” said Mirwaiz in a seminar organised at party headquarters Rajbagh in honour of July 13, 1931 martyrs.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that that they are looking forward to initiate an intra-state dialogue among the five regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Indian government always wants to create schism between different regions of state and conditions are created in which hatred is cultivated among the people of one region against the other. That is why we want intra state dialogue in the state to connect the people of different regions,” said Mirwaiz.
Paying tributes to the martyrs of 1931, Mirwaiz said that they laid their lives for the freedom of Kashmir and for the dominance of Islam, but it is unfortunate their dream is yet to get realised.
“Kashmir did not see any change after the end of Dogra rule because we went under the occupation of India and unfortunately some people who became legislators became willing tools of India to establish and consolidate its occupation in the state,” said Mirwaiz.
He said, “It is also unfortunate that the people who are the agents of Indian occupation and its oppression in Kashmir are paying tributes and visit the graveyard of Martyrs of 1931, who laid their lives by fighting agonist the oppression.”
Hurriyat (M) chairman said that Kashmiris are not going to compromise on anything. “From 1931 to 1947 to date so many things changed and freedom movement witnessed several ups and down, but Kashmiris never compromised before Indian occupation,” said Mirwaiz.
He said that the shifting of the UN office from New Delhi will not make any difference on the international status of Kashmir dispute.
“India wants to de-internationalise the Kashmir dispute, but it is not possible because of UN resolutions before us. We have history of India-Pakistan relationship before us which is full of wars and agreements regarding Kashmir,” said he.
Mirwaiz added that no country in the world accepts Kashmir as a internal dispute of India which it can resolve unilaterally.
“Even Russia, a close associate of India, does not agree to it and also a recent US government report has declared that Kashmir is one of the volatile disputes of the world,” Mirwaiz said.
He also advised Indian government that Kashmir dispute can’t be solved by giving economic packages and developmental programs.
“Unless India will not address the core issue noting will change in Kashmir and if Kashmir issue remains unresolved it will add to the problems of India,” he said.
Condemning the Israeli aggression on Palestinian people, Mirwazi appealed people of Kashmir to show solidarity with them. “I appeal the people of Kashmir to condemn the Israeli attack and observe July 13 strike in solidarity with people of Gaza as well.” Mirwaiz said that Kashmiri people have always showed solidarity with the people of Palestine and other oppressed nations of the world.
Hurriyat (M) chairman also appealed International bodies including UN and OIC to use their influence in halting such attacks.
“UN has become the property of few powerful nations and OIC is defunct. I appeal them to come out of slumber and act against the Israel,” said Mirwaiz.
On the occasion, the joint party resolution was also presented which the party’s Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee passed on July 10. The resolution reiterates that the party will continue its struggle at every level to achieve the freedom of Kashmir.
“The party will also think over to explore all options including the result oriented tripartite dialogue to find resolution of Kashmir issue,” said the party resolution.
