SRINAGAR: Secretary Public Bureau Enterprises of the Horticulture and Floriculture department Sanjeev Verma Tuesday convened an interface meeting of fruit growers from all the districts of Kashmir Valley.
An official handout issued here said about a hundred growers participated in the meeting, which was held in presence of all the chief horticulture officers and subject matter specialists of Kashmir province.
The growers were addressed by the experts from the Horticulture department and remedial measures to their problems were discussed in detail, it said, adding the growers were asked not to use the fungicides and pesticides that are not recommended by the SKUAST-K.
The secretary asked the chief horticulture officers of all districts to remain available along with their staff for the growers so that on spot advisory to the farmers is provided to mitigate the problems confronted by them, it said.
Verma, said the statement, asked the fruit growers of the Valley to cooperate and follow the farm advisory from the scientists of SKUAST-K and from the experts of the department of Horticulture.
“The government is aware of the situation and is monitoring on day to day basis the status of the apple scab and other fruit disorders in the Valley. The scientists and the experts of the department are conducting awareness camps in nook and corner of orchard areas,” he said.
