Shabir Shah detained on way to Handwara

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir’s leader Shabir Ahmad Shah was Sunday detained by police when he was on way to Handwara to address a public gathering there.
A spokesperson of the party said that Shah was on way to the venue when police detained him at Pattan. Spokesperson while condemning the arrest of Shah said, “Those who claim to be the champions of democracy have no right to resort to undemocratic means and keep their political opponents away from political sphere.”
The spokesperson said that despite detention of Shah, some party leaders give slip to the police and reached the venue. Muhammad Yasin Ataai along with Peer Inayatullah and Abdul Waheed addressed the gathering at Handwara.
