SRINAGAR: Officials of the Wildlife Department Sunday caught hold of a bear along with its cub from Shalnag in Khrew village of south Kashmir’s Pampore area.
The officials said that after getting information about the presence of a black bear in the area, they rushed to the spot immediately and launched an operation at 11 am. “The bear was finally caught at 5 pm,” Ranger Officer, Khrew, Muneer Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
He said they laid a trap around the wild animal and it was administered tranquillizers and finally trapped in a nearby school. Later the cub was also caught.
“There were no injuries to anyone, neither to the animals nor to the humans. The rescue operation was carried smoothly where locals and police also cooperated and supported,” Muneer said.
