Srinagar: Restrictions are likely to be imposed in parts of downtown Srinagar on Friday to prevent protests against the visit of Narendra Modi to the state.
Official sources told Kashmir Reader that restrictions on the public movement will be imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Khanyar, Nowhatta, Maharaj Gunj, Safa Kadal and Rainawari police stations. The authorities have apprehensions that protests might be held after the congregational Friday prayers in the downtown against the visit of Modi.
“The administration doesn’t want to take any chance. They have decided to impose curbs to thwart any possible protests,” the sources said.
