Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday urged people to protect the Islamic character, culture and identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Every individual in our society has to play a role to bring social reform. Youth being educated have to shoulder major responsibility of rooting out social evils from the society,” said Mirwaiz, who is also the head of Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema, while paying tributes to the youngest daughter of Prophet (SAW), at the shrine of Hazrat Khawaja Naqashbandh.
Mirwaiz told the gathering that “until our families do not practice Islamic culture and tradition the ongoing social reforms movement is not going to bear fruit.”
“The main issues faced by our society are related to disintegration of the family fabric and a rat race for materialistic pursuits,” he said.
Mirwaiz told women to follow the path of Hazrat Fatima (RA) in bringing reforms in the light of Islam. “Women have frontline responsibility to inculcate values in their families to build a health society,” he said.
