SHABIR AHMAD
ANANTNAG: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and Member Parliament, Mehbooba Mufti, Wednesday claimed that her party will win at least 50 seats in upcoming Assembly elections.
“There is no doubt about the PDP forming next government. I can tell you with confidence that PDP will win at least 50 seats in the upcoming polls,” Mehbooba said while addressing a series of road shows in Pahalgam Assembly constituency here.
She said that PDP is “getting popular in all the three regions of the state for its pro-people agenda.”
In recently concluded Parliamentary polls, PDP has secured highest votes in many Assembly segments of Jammu region “which is indication of our growing popularity,” Mehbooba said.
She blamed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for “pushing the state towards economic disaster in the name of corrective measures.”
“After facing shameful defeat in Parliamentary polls Omar has been taking such measures which may push the state towards worst economic disaster. Whatsoever measures he is taking out of frustration are only going to burden the already exhausted state exchequer,” she said.
Mehbooba said that PDP after forming the government will focus on horticulture and tourism sectors.
“Horticulture and tourism sectors will be our priority besides curbing the unemployment,” Mehbooba said.
