Qasba urges SMC ward officers to improve upon sanitation during Ramadan

Srinagar: Commissioner,Srinagar Muncipal Corporation, Dr GN Qasba Thursday chaired a meeting with all the senior Municipal officers to review arrangements for upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Dr Qasba passed on directions to all the ward officers to upgrade and improve upon sanitation especially during the Ramadan. “The focus during this holy month shall be near mosques, shrines and other religious places with a special attention on fumigation, grass cutting and other cleansing services,” Dr Qasba, according to an SMC handout, said.
He directed the officers to identify the issues related to sanitation or any other Municipal activity so that same can be addressed at an earliest to avoid inconvenience to the people.
Dr Qasba also instructed SMC’s Health wing to conduct frequent checks and inspections of market as Ramadan is approaching. He further said that Food wing shall conduct regular drives so that consumers get healthy food during fast days and otherwise also.
While taking stock of streetlights, Commissioner SMC directed the officials to ensure proper working of streetlights in the city particularly near mosques.
During the meeting, Dr Qasba also reviewed the overall progress of various activities including sanitation, building activities, works progress and revenue generation.
